The central issue addressed in this study is an examination of the principle of the superiority of the Ahl al‑Bayt (peace be upon them) and a critique of the inclusivist approach advanced by Faisal Noor. Relying on a narration found in the Tafsir attributed to Imam Hasan al‑Askari (peace be upon him), Noor claims that the virtue articulated in the text extends to all of the Prophet’s Companions (peace be upon him and his family). Such an interpretation poses challenges to a precise understanding of hadith texts and established historical delimitations. Accordingly, the present study aims to evaluate the chain of transmission and to conduct a rigorous semantic analysis of this narration in order to assess the credibility of Faisal Noor’s claim and to clarify the text’s actual intent. Adopting a descriptive–analytical methodology and setting aside prior theological presuppositions, the research first engages in rijāl‑based discussions and isnād analysis. It then proceeds to examine the narration’s literary structure, internal contextual indicators, and relevant Qur’anic evidence. The findings demonstrate that the narration is formulated as a conditional proposition and is concerned with the qualitative assessment of individuals’ faith. Consequently, its conceptual structure, through the use of delimiting qualifiers, delineates a merit‑based framework that restricts superiority to a select group among the Companions. Any absolute generalization of this virtue to all Companions therefore lacks semantic rigor and stands in conflict with the Qur’an’s explicit distinctions.
