Explaining religious truths and teachings, particularly the significance of Wilayah (leadership) and the succession of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), has been a central mission of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS). This mission is reflected in various sources, including sermons, hadiths, prayers, and ziyarat texts. Among these, the narrated ziyarat from the Imams, especially Imam Hadi’s (AS) Ziyarat al-Ghadir, serves as a profound repository that links theological truths to historical events, playing a unique role in consolidating the beliefs of its audience.
This study, employing a library-based and analytical approach, examines the Quranic foundations of Ziyarat al-Ghadir attributed to Imam Hadi (AS). It demonstrates that, through purposeful and meaningful use of Quranic verses, he highlights the virtues and qualifications of Imam Ali (AS) in the context of Ghadir. Verses such as “Naba’ ‘Azim” (The Great News), “Tathir” (Purification), “Wilayah” (Leadership), “Ulul-Amr” (Those in Authority), “Tabligh” (Conveying), and “Ikmal” (Completion) are employed both explicitly and implicitly to underscore Ali’s (AS) status as the rightful successor of the Prophet (PBUH) and to clarify the divine basis of his appointment within the Ahl al-Bayt’s teachings.
The findings emphasize that Imam Hadi (AS), by integrating Quranic and narrational frameworks, not only elucidates the office of Imamate and Ali’s (AS) succession but also connects these teachings to the historical event of Ghadir, guiding believers toward both intellectual and practical understanding. This approach is valuable for validating the interpretive significance of the verses and for explaining the philosophical foundation of divine appointment in the Imamate.
