With the rise of advanced artificial intelligence as a powerful source of information processing and decision-making, the traditional concept of 'epistemic authority' faces an unprecedented challenge. This technology raises the question of whether revelation-based systems of guidance, such as the institution of the Imamate in Shi'a theology, can maintain their unique efficacy in the age of algorithms. The main question is: What are the unique dimensions and functions of 'guidance' (hidāyah) within the Shi'a system of Imamate that distinguish it from the data-driven leadership offered by artificial intelligence? The hypothesis is that the Imamate, in addition to its epistemic dimension, possesses existential, spiritual, and exemplary (uswah ḥasanah) dimensions that are inherently inimitable and irreplaceable by an artificial intelligence lacking consciousness, volition, and human perfections. The aim of this research is to precisely delineate the essential distinctions between algorithmic guidance and faith-based guidance centered on the Imamate, and to demonstrate the continued necessity of the Imam's role in the technological age. The research methodology is descriptive-analytical, based on library sources in the fields of theology (kalām), hadith, and the philosophy of technology. The findings indicate that while artificial intelligence can be a powerful tool for information management, the Imamate, as a perfect human model and a divine proof (ḥujjah), holds exclusive functions in the comprehensive guidance of humanity that transcend algorithmic computation.
