The need to reinterpret Lady Fatimah al-Zahra’s (PBUH) discourse in defense of Fadak arises from the pressing demand to understand the dynamics of civil and legal resistance against dominant political authority. This study offers an innovative analysis of the legal and political dimensions of her Fadak sermon and other related positions, exploring how she challenged the legitimacy of the usurped caliphate and reaffirmed the rightful status of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS). Using a descriptive-analytical and qualitative method grounded in critical discourse analysis and civil resistance theories, the research investigates the strategies employed by Lady Fatimah (PBUH) to oppose injustice within a deeply patriarchal and politically volatile context.
Findings indicate that through Qur’anic reasoning, prophetic traditions, and sound legal argumentation, Lady Fatimah (PBUH) not only refuted the economic justification for the confiscation of Fadak but also undermined the moral and political foundations of the ruling power. Her approach combined intellectual resistance with spiritual authority, setting a precedent for later Islamic thought on justice, governance, and the rights of individuals and communities.
Ultimately, the study positions Lady Fatimah (PBUH) as a pioneering figure in the history of civil and legal resistance, whose eloquent and principled defense of truth transcends her era. Her discourse represents a timeless model of awareness, justice-seeking, and resistance through reason and faith—illustrating how moral conviction can serve as a powerful instrument against political oppression.
