The conscious and voluntary suffering of the infallible Imam is not a mere historical event, but rather part of the divine mission and a means of guiding the nation. However, most previous research has focused on emotional dimensions or historical narrative, and has paid less attention to the structured analysis of the “freedom to accept suffering” and its role in “collective spiritual transformation.” The main question of this research is how the voluntary suffering of the infallible Imam can act as a stimulus for the spiritual guidance and reconstruction of society? This question becomes doubly important in the face of doubts such as the unwillingness of the Imam’s martyrdom or political failure. Therefore, the present article, with an interdisciplinary approach, explains the position of the Imam’s voluntary suffering within the framework of the doctrine of “divine proof” in Imami theology and compares it with theories of collective transformation in the social sciences, including “moral shock” and “collective memory.” The findings show that such suffering, in addition to its epistemological role in individual guidance, can challenge previous frameworks of understanding and values of society, and as a result, force people to search for new meanings and reconstruct collective identity; a process that guarantees religious cohesion and the dynamism of society's beliefs in the long term. Therefore, the innovation of this research lies in presenting a conceptual model for the connection between "authority in suffering" and "collective transformation" that fills the gap in theological literature and the sociology of religion and provides a contemporary answer to critical questions about the why and function of the Imam's suffering.
